Teacher Institute FAQs

Welcome General Info. Workshop Schedule Registration Conf. Center/Hotel Info FAQs

Q: Once I apply, when will I be notified if I am accepted into a program?
A: All teacher applications are processed within 24 hours after they are received. Space is available on a first come/first served basis; therefore, it is to your advantage to apply as soon as possible to ensure a spot in the program of your choice. When you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email with information specific to the program.

Q: A program that I wish to attend is full. Does Invest Ed® maintain a wait list for full programs?
A: Wait lists are kept for full programs. To get on the wait list, complete the registration form. Invest Ed® staff will contact waitlisted individuals as space becomes available. Wait list registrants may be asked to serve as a “last-minute back-up.” Because we usually experience one or two “no-shows,” we may have to contact you with very short notice to fill a seat.

Q: When do I need to arrive at the program site?
A: Registration will be on the first day of each event between 9:00 and 9:45 a.m. All teachers, including commuters, must check in at that time. Any participants who have not signed in or contacted Invest Ed® staff by that time will be considered a “no-show,” and the empty seat will be offered to a waiting list teacher.

Q: What costs will I incur in attending an Invest Ed® program?
A: Transportation to and from the program site, including all expenses associated with travel, are the responsibility of the participant. However, the generous stipend provided by Invest Ed® will more than cover travel expenses. Once the program starts, a private hotel room, meals, and teaching materials are provided by Invest Ed®.

Q: Can I leave the program early?
A: Everyone who participates in Invest Ed® programs is expected to stay for the full duration of the program.

Q: Is there a stipend for attending?
A: All teachers who successfully complete a program (by attending all sessions and participating fully) will receive a $100 stipend per day, which will be ready for pickup at the conclusion of the event, providing all necessary paperwork was received in a timely manner.

Q: Where do I get information on receiving professional development credits?
A: Each teacher receives a Certificate at the program’s conclusion. The Certificate will show the event and dates of attendance. Also, teachers receive a printed schedule which shows the hours in attendance. This information is also available on www.investedok.org at the STARS link. The University of Oklahoma Outreach provides CEUs for its workshop attendees. CEUs are industry credits and do not apply to teachers. Teachers submit their Certificates to their districts to receive professional development points. If a teacher needs additional documentation to receive professional development points, the Invest Ed® STARS staff will be happy to write a letter. However, this has never been necessary.
